Onc. Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance'

   I mainly wanted this plant to breed with, and it seems like I underestimated how large it was going to be. Unfortunately all of the flowers that were open blasted while this was in the mail, as it was cool when it went. However the flowers did still have some of their fragrance. It has a new lead already in development behind the leading p'bulb, so I'm sure I'll get some new flowers soon enough.

Tolu. Jairak Flyer 'Corona'

   My second Tolumnia arrived with a very withered flower, but knowing that these plants have a propensity for sending out branches from the inflorescence, I cut the tip to the next bract. It has sent out a branch and a new inflorescence all together, but that can be saved for an update post.

Tolu. Jairak Rainbow 'Sunspots'

   And I have my pretty Tolumnias again!!! I've always loved this genus and its hybrids, so of course I had to get some given the chance.

Onc. George McMahon 'Fortuna'

   This one is a plant I might lose. When it first arrived, it had a quarter sized spot of soft tissue on the back of it's pseudobulb. I cut it out and covered it with cinnamon, and it hasn't spread, but over the month or so that I've had it, it's continued to lose it's leaves and further shrivel up. There isn't much left to it. I might make an update post on it once I'm done with all the original posts.

Onc. Twinkle 'Ember'

   And now we're on to a different set of plants. This coming set were purchased for me by a friend at the Montréal show back in October. The first of which is an Onc. Twinkle with a colour combination I haven't really seen before. The downside to that is there doesn't seem to be much of a fragrance compared to other Twinkle cultivars.

Onc. Pacific Sunrise 'Hakalau'

   And the final one that I bought from Forest View. This is the plant that got me super interested in Oncidium fuscatum (syn. Miltonia warscewiczii). I would've been able to get one from Ecuagenera, but unfortunately I thought of things past the order deadline. However, it looks like this new lead will be much larger compared to the last. Weird thing is that it's producing new roots, but the lead itself hasn't changed since I bought it a month ago. Hopefully it doesn't sulk for too long.

Gom. Alosuka 'Claire'

   This is another plant that I bought from Forest View. I'm not sure when it'll bloom, as people rarely post pictures of the plants, and if so, it's difficult to get the proper perspective on it. It looks like it is just finishing up this bulb, as it is sending out some roots. I'm looking forward to it though, it it looks like it will be quite the show.

Oncidium spikes!

Ugh, once again due to my lazyness, I haven't uploaded photos to my Photobucket in a long time! Anyways, here are updated pics of my spiking Oncs.

Here is my Onc. Gold Dust with its spike just beginning to show buds!

And because I was bored and I could, I unpotted the Gold Dust and mounted it on some Epiweb!

And you can see a new growth starting from last years p'bulb to the right of center.

Here is my Tol. with its spike getting ever longer.

I really don't like this one's NoID status, I think I may sell it at my OS meeting on Sunday.

More Spike Progress!

My Onc. Gold Dust is getting closer to blooming! The previous p'bulb also started a new growth.

And finally, my B. Grand Stars '#2'. It is really close to opening, I think maybe within a week or so.

Phal. Mambo

Phalaenopsis speciosa v. christiana. Sigh, this is one absolutely crazy phal! I think in total, it has 15 inflorescences and side spikes. Now, just to get them all to bloom at once. . . .

My Tolumnia is just finishing up its newest lead, which means its time for it to spike! I'm not sure if all Tolumnias do this, but this one starts a new growth, spikes when it is just about to finish the lead, finishes blooming, and then after a very brief rest, starts over again!

Spikes galore!

Okay, so here is the rest of what I have in spike, all nice brand new photos taken a few hours ago.

Phal. (Tying Shin Cupid x Super Stupid) I am excited to see this one bloom, as it has grown a lot over the past year, so I should get a great big spike!

Phal. (Sogo Lisa 'OK' HCC/AOS x Haur Jin Princess 'TR' HCC/AOS), which has a HUGE name, has finally been registered as Phal. Pylo's Princess Lisa. It has just the tiniest nubbin of a spike.

I was very surprised indeed  to see the shadow of a spike when the plant is so small! I thought it was a new growth for a while, but it is way to skinny to be a new lead, so a spike it is!


And finally, my B. Grand Stars '#2', with its spike growing quickly!

Hehe, I think I have more in spike than I had for 'chids at this time last year.

Tolumnia NoID

Sigh, so I know I am an ID snob, but this one was supposed to get an ID. Last spring, Dino from C.R. Orchids visited my OS, and they had a bunch of Tolumnias for sale. Some of them had lost their name tags, so I was told that once it blooms, they should be able to ID it for me. As luck would have it, I happened to get one of the few non-mericloned ones, and if you knew anything about hybrid Tolumnias, you would know that the same hybrid can have a whopping range of variation. So, this one remains as a NoID.

Oncidium Gold Dust

   Here is a cute little seedling of Onc. (Twinkle x cheirophorum) I got from a member who had a compot of these. She also had an adult there in full bloom with a dozen or so p'bulbs in a 4'' pot. I took a picture of the blooms with my phone. The blooms where small and cheery, and had a delightful scent. I am excited for mine to bloom, whenever it chooses to do so.
